10:18 amVisitorhi i am seeking low cost cloud hosting where I can have cpanel and WHM
10:19 amWith special billing options down to as little as one hour, we allow individuals the ability to set up and run their VM for a short period of time. Great for scaling your cluster, testing software, and easily disposable. For more long term clients, we also offer monthly billing, perfect for small businesses looking to keep costs in check, and visibility high.

Prices starting as low as $25
10:20 amwhat can i get for $25
You have been transferred to: Jake Valkusky.
Jake ValkuskyHello, our base cloud purchase would be $25.00. You can get an hourly cloud server, and use it until the $25.00 is used up. What will you be hosting on this server?
Or you could get the following monthly cloud:
20GB Storage
512MB RAM
CentOS 6
1 IP
$25.00/month
VisitorI do not understand how "hourly" cloud server usage work? Can you elaborate?
Jake ValkuskyAbsolutely. So it is based on your usage. For the cloud specification, it would be a set amount. Let's say $.16, bandwidth would be billed additionally. So every day you could spend about $.25. So you are paying for your usage, as you go, and you can cancel at any time.
VisitorFine so lets get some real idea about usage: Hosting a WordPress website that displays photos about 150kb with maybe under 500 hist in a month. If the visitor spends say 1 minute looking at a 150kb photo, and each of the 500 visitors do exactly the same thing, how much "usage" would that be and how much would it cost?
Jake ValkuskyOk, so with that type of usage, you would not be charged extra for bandwidth, as that is very low usage.
VisitorOh! The real problem I have had in the past is facing such issues as throttling from the webhost. Bluehost has lost me as a customer for that reason. Please provide some sort of concept so I can understand typical usage figures. I am mainly a Wordpress developer, showing mainly text and photos. Occasionally a Youtube video embedded? Who pays the streaming cost for that is it form my bandwidth or Youtube for an embedded video they watch on my website. What about SQL requests how is that measure is 5gib of SQL requests alot?
Jake ValkuskyYou will be provided with a 1Gb/s port, so you will not face any issues with slow or sluggish connections. for embedded video, that is a very good question. That would be YouTube that would deal with the bandwidth as once the video is loaded it is connected to YouTube.
Can you provide me with more information regarding the SQL requests, are you referring to bandwidth usage for SQL?
VisitorI was running a a social share website that was getting a lot of use. People were joining maybe spamming the site with their links out. The MySQL database had perhaps grown to over 5GB and I was running a reseller at Bluehost and per their TOS they had the right to throttle the site because of too many "SQL requests?....
Jake ValkuskyI have never heard of anything like that, I know we do not do anything like that.
VisitorCPU Throttling:
Throttling or Suspensions are usually caused by:

Poorly coded PHP scripts such as multiple nested loops, or infinite loops.
Themes, Addons, or Plugins (if you just added a new component to your script, you may want to remove it to see if that new component caused your site to suddenly perform slowly)
Queries that return inordinately large dataset results (eg: 100,000 records) in the response object of a round trip to the server.
Queries that take too long to execute due to heavy aggregation commands like SUM, COUNT over very large datasets without proper indexing.
Queries that are doing complex unoptimized nested joins.
Queries that execute large batch commands like INSERTS, UPDATES, OR DELETES - these types of SQL calls are 10 times more expensive and resource intensive than the SELECT query command.
Jake ValkuskyYea, we do not throttle you like that. In fact if you are noticing problems with load times are on your server, our engineers will take a look for you and resolve the issue for you.
We do not charge extra for support and we have staff on site 24x7x365
VisitorOkay sounds good cvan we review what would be an ok plan for me to start?
I just want to be able to make and run maybe about 20 or so WordPress websites: In some cases I have existing entire cPanel backup archives that are .tar.gz or zip files from 10mb to maybe as much as 2 GB for the largest... I want cPanel and WHM and can I resell with hostbill o the other license?
first please give me the link to your site I am on Hostmonk.com!
You rated our customer service as good.
Visitorplease send a transcript of this convo to: hostpoet@gmail.com
Jake ValkuskySo cPanel is an additional charge, which is $11.15/month. However, we do offer free cPanel to cPanel migrations.
Visitorwhat about WHM?
does the thing operate like a VPS?
Automated DDoS Protection - 125.00/month...???
Jake ValkuskyOur version of cPanel comes with WHM. It does not operate like a VPS, as it would not be affected by other users on the node. Thew resources you are provided with are used by you and only you.
VisitorSo you charge an added $11.15 for cPanel/WHM does that include setup and hardening? Could initiial parametes like the 20GB storage be lowered so the total close is under the $25 poer month?
is the $22.95 a projection or an actual cost?
Aha .03 per hour?
Jake ValkuskyThat is actual cost based on the specs you have chosen. You will see at the bottom that the cost is in fact $25.00, since that is our minimal payment.
VisitorIs 512 MB memory enough something I never really understood?
Lets go with: $0.03/Hr (Machine Price)
Included bandwidth (none)
Additional Licensing Fee(s):
None
Machine Addons:
None
Bandwidth overage charges may apply.
Price displayed is per Cloud Machine.
and please add in the cPanel WHM with setup.. I do not want to have to set this up myself if it can be avoided..
Jake ValkuskyOk, the easiest way to get you setup, is for you to fill out the information on that order page. Under the OS you will see CentOS 6 + cPanel, please be sure to select that. Also, make sure you select which data center location you prefer.
Visitorwhat about host name do I leave it as: fa7b5b.myvm or do you need my domain name now?
Jake ValkuskyNo, you can leave it as is. That can always be changed later.
VisitorWhat about setting up and hardening cPanel & WHM..is that included?
Jake ValkuskyYes, that is included, and will be done during the migration.
VisitorAs far as migration I own 100's of domains, is there a limit for WHM? Also I had full cPanel backup will the migration set up the sites? Also how much is it for extra dedicated IP's per IP?
Jake ValkuskyWe charge $1/IP for additional IP addresses. There is no limit in cPanel, you can have unlimited domains. Yes the migration will setup the sites exactly the way you have it now.
Visitorok please send the transcrip to hostpoet@gmail.com now I am very concerned about the cPanle setup with hardening etc for both WHM and cPanel and also will name servers be supplied, can I have my own name servers (custom) and I do my own SSL certs will this company set them up when I supply the info needed?
Jake ValkuskyWe can provide you with name servers, but they will not be your own name servers. They will be ours. I will send this transcript to you now, I am going to need your name. We will setup your SSL for you once you provide us with the cert information.
VisitorStephen C. Sanders
Jake ValkuskyOk, thank you. Let me get this sent over to you.
Visitorok and with the centosOS (+cpanel) price went up to ..05 per hour so i guess that is the new rate & the memory was upped to 1024 MB
Will 1024 MB be enough?
Jake ValkuskyThat is correct, that will be the new cost. That updates depending on the specs you choose.
I do believe that 1GB RAM will be sufficient
I have sent the transcript to you.
Visitorok...I take it you are very familiar with all this stuff because I never got an answer about "hardening" the cPanel/WHM apparently its important and soemwhat complex I had a go at it one prev with a cloud system..
Will I be accessing this thru a virtual interface like it sometimes used with a VPS or will it be more like regular webhosting cPanle WHM experience?
Jake ValkuskyWe will take care of the hardening for you upon initial setup, that would not be a problem. We do have a virtual interface. You can SSH into the server as well.
Visitorwill support help with the interface and the SSH sytax for the command as well? Is it more secure to upload via SSH from my laptop computer or is it safer and easier to do from something like dropbox?
Jake ValkuskyNo, SSH from your computer is completely fine. You can restrict the access to SSH to only your IP. Yes our support engineers will help with all aspects of the server.
VisitorShould I choose Hourly or Monthly Billing?

Hourly billing is ideal for individuals who only need to keep their VM for a short period of time. It’s recommended for scenarios such as temporarily scaling your cluster, or testing software. Hourly VM’s do not come with any bandwidth included.

Monthly billing is ideal for individuals who need to keep their VM’s long term, such as permanent websites or applications.

Bandwidth Pricing

Type Price per GB
Inbound Bandwidth (1Gbps Port) $0.08
Outbound Bandwidth (1Gbps Port) $0.15
I am now unclear if I will be charged the .05 per hour & for the cpanle license or just the .05 per hour ?
Ok I am about to signup for the gourly..it only charges at the rate of usage:
1:11 pmIf I am charged for the license can it come out of the initial $25?
Jake ValkuskyOk, hourly is a great method, you can get a feel for our billing and interface and we can always change you over to monthly billing if you end up preferring that option. It will come out of the initial $25.00
VisitorSo for example if I do not upload anything in the first month (because i get busy with other projects for ex) will I not be charged anything or does it require resources just to "have a resident cPanel WHM software available (other than $11.25) if I do not do aything withit...Is there some miniscule residfent program usageJake Valkusky
You will still be charged the hourly rate, because those resources are allocated to you. So the way you put it as a "residence fee" is correct.
Visitor
how much rresources are used in 30 days by the cPanle/WHM software if I do nothing at all???
Jake ValkuskyYou will still be charged the hourly rate, because those resources are allocated to you. So the way you put it as a "residence fee" is correct.
Visitorhow much rresources are used in 30 days by the cPanle/WHM software if I do nothing at all?
Jake ValkuskycPanel does not use any resources, that is a standard monthly cost.
VisitorFor the license use then..the $11.25 right. If I upload nothing and do nothing It cost my nothing out of the .05 per hour cost...right? That was my only remaining question!!
Jake ValkuskyThat is correct, it will not cost anything additional.
VisitorFine because five cents an hour for 24 hours for 30 days cost $30 but I will not get charged ($30 for example) if I do nothing at all in that time period correct??? with this being the case I am ready to go, and try it the true cloud method:

Jake ValkuskyYou will still be charged the $.05 because the resources are still allocated to you, regardless of usage.

Jake ValkuskyYou will still be charged the $.05 because the resources are still allocated to you, regardless of usage.

The cloud seems to be an expensive option for the "non-professional" user.
